The Las Cruces City Council will meet at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13, 2021 for a Work Session to be conducted in Council Chambers at City Hall, 700 N. Main St.
Two topics will be presented to, and discussed by, the Council at the Work Session. Energy Use in City Buildings will be the first topic. The City’s Sustainability Office will present recommended actions for City Council’s consideration to transition to net zero.
Net zero is an effort to meet a building’s or a community’s energy needs through renewable energy and other complementary sustainable practices. Transitioning to net zero can reduce cost burden, improve health, and help achieve goals outlined in the City’s Climate Action Plan to reduce greenhouse gases.
Additionally, City Council will discuss recommendations from a preliminary study into the nuisance of noise pollution within the City. The study was conducted and completed in February 2019 by Bohannan Huston, to determine the existing noise levels within the City to support a decision-making approach to correlate an acceptable level of noise within specific zoning designations.
Monday’s presentation and Council discussion are expected to assist the Council in its efforts to update Las Cruces’ existing Noise Ordinance.

Immediately following Monday’s City Council Work Session a brief Agenda Setting Meeting will be conducted in Council Chambers to determine the agenda for the Sept. 20, 2021 City Council meeting.
