[ARCHIVED] Electronic Caregiver Expansion to Add 120 Jobs State and local incentives will support economic deve

Electronic Caregiver, of Las Cruces, has been awarded $235,000 in New Mexico Job Training Incentive Program (JTIP) funding to support plans to expand and create 120 new jobs.

The New Mexico Economic Development Department, City of Las Cruces Economic Development Department, and MVEDA worked collaboratively with Electronic Caregiver to foster the expansion. The funding has been approved by the state’s JTIP Board.

The company will receive $135,000 in WagePlus funding from the City of Las Cruces and $100,000 in El Paso Electric funds through the Mesilla Valley Economic Development Alliance (MVEDA). The expansion for Electronic Caregiver, 506 S. Main St., would almost double the number of employees at its business. The company currently has 150 full-time employees, according to its website.

“We are really excited for what this expansion means for the community,” said Assistant City Manager Ikani Taumoepeau. The City is committed to economic development prosperity and cannot wait to have 120 more skilled jobs in Las Cruces. Not only do we love to see a local business grow, but we are happy about the group effort with our partners to provide financial assistance in this endeavor.”

The state of New Mexico’s JTIP can reimburse companies for a portion of training costs for above-average wage positions. WagePlus is a supplement to the state’s JTIP program.

WagePlus rewards businesses for hiring and paying higher than median wages. The program provides a $1,500 per job reimbursement for qualifying companies that hire and train new employees for jobs paying at least 10 percent more than Doña Ana County’s median wage.

To qualify for participation in WagePlus, a company must manufacture a product, export non-retail services from New Mexico, or meet state green industry standards. The company also must successfully complete the Job Incentive Training Program.

Electronic Caregiver, founded in 2009, is focused on developing and participating in research efforts that support improved outcomes across the healthcare continuum. A significant goal for Electronic Caregiver is to improve the way care and support is delivered and managed for patients – from children to adults, and especially an underserved and rapidly expanding aging population.
