[ARCHIVED] City Councilor Gill Sorg Seeking Projects Input from Public Through Series of Park Meetings

Gill Sorg

City Councilor Gill Sorg, representative for District 5, is hosting a series of public meetings with community members through October to gather input for projects that may qualify for the 2022 General Obligation (GO) Bond cycle for the City of Las Cruces. Las Cruces voters will have an opportunity in November 2022 to vote on the projects eventually selected by the City Council. Councilors are seeking public input on these projects in the coming months prior to the election. The 2022 GO Bond will not increase any taxes.

More information about the City’s GO Bond program may be found on the City website at www.las-cruces.org, keyword search for General Obligation Bond Projects. In 2018, voters supported $35.7 million in improvements and additions for park and sports fields, the new Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley facility, a new fire station, and improvements to walking/biking/jogging recreational trails.

The schedule for the meetings, which start on October 9, is:

North Las Cruces Park, 1005 Valley View Ave.; 1 p.m. Saturday, October 9
Northridge Park, 3245 Westridge Road, 6 p.m. Tuesday, October 12
