The City of Las Cruces, in partnership with NMSU’s Office of Experiential Learning, Community Engagement and Outreach, will hold a FREE drive-thru mask distribution from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, January 17 at Frenger Park, 800 Parkview Dr.
Reusable masks for adults and disposable masks for kids will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis as part of the City’s ongoing campaign, Mask Up Las Cruces.
“Multiple studies, including a multinational analysis, demonstrate mask wearing greatly reduces the transmission of COVID 19.” said Scott Rodgers, City of Las Cruces, Volunteer Coordinator.
Recently the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommended “universal mask use” outside people’s homes as part of guidance aimed at slowing the spread of COVID-19. The CDC warned that the United States has entered “a phase of high-level transmission” as colder weather keeps Americans inside. The Omicron variant has also dramatically increased COVID infections.
In compliance with all public health orders, staff and volunteers will be wearing personal protective equipment and social distancing requirements will be observed at all times.
