The Office of Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham announced on Friday that the governor will deliver the 2022 State of the State address live and remotely streamed from the governor’s office out of an abundance of caution due to heightened spread of COVID-19.

Recorded by New Mexico PBS, the governor’s 2022 State of the State address will be streamed live on the governor’s website, the governor’s Facebook page, and the governor’s YouTube account, as well as live-streamed by PBS station KNME.

Prior to the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the governor delivered the State of the State address in the House chambers with all members of the state Legislature, invited guests, and media in attendance. Due to continued increases in COVID-19 cases fueled by the Omicron variant, and for the protection of the health and safety of the public, legislators, and legislative staff, the governor will deliver her address remotely.

Gov. Lujan Grisham will deliver her 2022 State of the State address on Tuesday, January 18, the opening day of the 2022 legislative session. The start time of the governor’s speech is dependent upon the Legislature’s opening day procedures – it will likely begin in the 1 p.m. hour.
