Alameda Boulevard, between Amador Avenue and Picacho Avenue, will conduct pavement striping work beginning Monday, Feb. 7, 2022, as part of the Traffic Management maintenance program.
The project will take one week to complete, weather permitting.
A new traffic pattern will be implemented along this section of Alameda Boulevard that will incorporate a road diet that will accommodate a dedicated bike lane and a center turning lane. These changes to the striping on Alameda Boulevard will increase safety for pedestrians, add more bike lanes to the road network within Las Cruces, improve the efficiency and safety of turning traffic as well as provide more accessibility to and from the downtown area.
The road will remain open to traffic. However, intermittent lane closures will be in effect during portions of the maintenance work.
Driveways to surrounding residences and businesses will remain accessible. RoadRUNNER Transit routes will not be affected.
The City has verified no conflicting public or private construction projects will take place in the immediate areas of the maintenance during this time. Motorists are urged to drive with caution through the area or use an alternate route to avoid possible delays.
This work is being done in City Council District 1.
