[ARCHIVED] CLARIFICATION: Most City Facilities Observe Indoor Mask Removal Mandate

Las Cruces City Hall

Note: Corrects and clarifies second paragraph to reflect that staff members at senior centers are still required to wear masks, and seniors are encouraged to wear face coverings and become up to date on vaccinations.

Most City of Las Cruces facilities have lifted indoor mask mandates previously imposed by New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham and the New Mexico Department of Health.

Masks are no longer required to be worn inside City facilities, including City Hall, pools and recreation facilities, museums, libraries, senior centers, Rio Grande Theatre, and Visit Las Cruces.

While masks will not be required to be worn during City Council meetings, residents will still be required to maintain social distancing while sitting in Council Chambers at City Hall.

Masks are still required to be worn on all City-operated transit services, including RoadRUNNER buses and Dial-a-Ride services, and inside all transit facilities, including the Mesilla Valley Intermodal Transit Terminal and Las Cruces International Airport. Public transportation services and public transit facilities are required to observe the federal mask mandate, which remains in effect.

City administration will continue to closely monitor any changes in public health recommendations and will promptly update residents with changes that might occur.

The New Mexico indoor mask mandate was lifted by Gov. Lujan Grisham on February 17. Residents are strongly encouraged to follow media news reports or call local schools or businesses, since mask requirements could vary.
