Amador Fire

Las Cruces firefighters were dispatched to the intersection of Amador Avenue and 17th Street for a report of a fire on the outside of a commercial building that was impinging on the structure.
 
Firefighters arrived around 1 p.m. at the 1800 block of W. Amador Avenue to find a large volume of fire on the exterior and slightly inside of the building. The fire was brought under control within 30 minutes.
 
Thirty-one firefighters from Las Cruces Fire Department responded along with Las Cruces Police Department and American Medical Response (AMR). The business was closed at the time. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. A damage estimate has not yet been determined.
 
One firefighter sustained a minor injury and a civilian was evaluated for smoke inhalation by AMR.
