Just in time for Women’s History Month, the City of Las Cruces, in partnership with the Las Esperanzas, Inc. neighborhood association, is hosting a rededication ceremony for a plaque commemorating the association’s founder, Consuelo Lerma at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 9 on the east side of Klein Park, located at 155 N. Mesquite St.
The public is invited to attend and honor the life and leadership of Consuelo "Connie" Lerma, who organized Las Esperanzas to preserve, protect, and revitalize the history and culture of the Mesquite Historic District. Guest speakers featured include Consuelo Lerma’s daughter, Olivia McDonald, and District 1 City Councilor Kasandra Gandara.
