The Las Cruces Museum of Nature & Science, 411 N. Main St., will offer in-person Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) programs for children and families this May.
The programs are free but require registration in advance. Register in-person at the Museum of Nature & Science atrium desk before the listed registration deadlines.
“Nature & Science Discovery Pre-K: Trace Fossils”
9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Thursdays
For thousands of years animals, human, plants, and even bacteria have left their mark in some way. In May, we will examine the different kinds of evidence left behind. “Pre-K” takes place at 9 a.m. every Thursday. Register in advance for May. Recommended for ages 2 to 5, adult caregiver participation is required.
“Saturday Family Science – Air-Zookas!”
10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 7
Let’s learn about vortexes! This hands-on activity will walk you through how to use everyday items to make your own air vortex cannon. Registration is required and can be done at the atrium desk. Recommended for ages 6 and older. Adult caregiver participation is required.
“Live Animal Feedings”
11 a.m. Saturday, May 7, May 14, and May 21
It’s brunch time! Watch and learn how different species of animals eat, and what they eat. Animal feedings take place in the gallery at the Museum of Nature & Science. No registration is required.
“Animal Encounters”
11 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 28
Learn about the diverse world of amphibians and get up close to some of the museum’s residents. No registration required.
