[ARCHIVED] Fire Damages Home, Displaces Family Tuesday Evening

West Las Cruces Avenue Fire

Las Cruces firefighters extinguished a residential structure fire that displaced a family of three on Tuesday evening.
  
Shortly before 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, firefighters were dispatched to the 1100 block of Turkey Knob Drive where they found fire burning in the home’s attic.
  
Firefighters attacked the blaze and had it contained within 25 minutes. The home sustained substantial damage that resulted in the displacement of three occupants.
  
No injuries were reported. The American Red Cross responded and helped provide necessary services for the family.
  
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Damage estimates have yet to be determined.
