For the sixth consecutive year, the City of Las Cruces is ranked among the best run U.S. cities, according to an annual survey conducted by WalletHub.com.

In 2022, the City of Las Cruces is ranked as the seventh best-run U.S. city in WalletHub poll. The results of this year’s survey can be found at https://wallethub.com/edu/best-run-cities/22869.

Since 2017, the City of Las Cruces has been rated among WalletHub’s best-run cities. In 2021, Las Cruces was ranked ninth; in 2020 the city was ranked fourth; in 2019 Las Cruces was sixth; in 2018 it was 11th; and in 2017 the city was sixth.

“The credit for this happening for six straight years is the quality of our City’s management team, the professionalism City employees exhibit every day, and an emphasis among our City Council to work together,” Mayor Ken Miyagishima said. “I am extremely proud of what the City of Las Cruces continues to accomplish.”

To determine its list of Best-Run Cities, WalletHub.com compared the operating efficiency of 150 of the largest U.S. cities to reveal which among them are managed best. WalletHub.com constructed a “Quality of Services” score made up of 38 metrics grouped into six service categories, which were measured against the city’s per-capita budget.

Las Cruces had a “Quality of Services” ranking of 69 and its Total Budget per capita was ranked fifth. Las Cruces also rated high in financial stability with a ranking of 44. Las Cruces’ ranking was the best in New Mexico, with Albuquerque ranked 23rd in 2022.

Across the region, which includes New Mexico, Arizona, and Texas, Las Cruces once again stood out with the best ranking. In Arizona, Mesa ranked 20th, Tucson 33rd, and Phoenix 34th.

In Texas, Arlington had the best ranking in that state at 25th, El Paso was 38th, and Corpus Christi was 42nd.

WalletHub.com is a personal finance website that was launched in August 2013. WalletHub.com also is supplemented by more reviews of financial products, professionals and companies than other websites offer. WalletHub is owned by Evolution Finance, Inc. and is based in Washington, DC.
