[ARCHIVED] Electric Light Parade Closures

Electric Light Parade Float

On Sunday, July 3, 2022, the City of Las Cruces Fourth of July Celebration will kick off with the Electric 5k and Fun Run followed by the Electric Light Parade.

The parade route will begin at Apodaca Park and will travel a short distance west on Madrid Avenue, south on Solano Drive, east on Hadley Avenue, and will finish at Meerscheidt Recreation Center. The Electric 5k will run the opposite route.

The running event begins at 7:30 p.m. with the parade starting at 9 p.m. There will be parking restrictions and street closures throughout the route beginning at 6 p.m.

Apodaca Park will close at 4 p.m. Sunday and all vehicles will be required to vacate the park at that time so the set-up for parade float staging can begin.

The Regional Aquatic Center, 1401 E. Hadley Ave., will have an open swim session and the upstairs fitness facilities only will be available from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday.

Meerscheidt Recreation Center, 1600 E. Hadley Ave., will be closed Sunday.

Motorists could encounter possible delays if driving in the vicinity of this event Sunday and are urged to consider alternate routes. The Las Cruces Police Department and Parks & Recreation Department want to remind motorists to proceed with caution as there will be increased pedestrian traffic throughout the area.

People watching the Electric Light Parade are reminded they are prohibited from blocking sidewalks with chairs, ropes or other objects prior to the parade. Sidewalks are considered public rights of way and should not be blocked. Las Cruces Codes Enforcement will be monitoring the parade route and will take any enforcement action, if necessary.

For information, please contact the Parks & Recreation Department Administration Offices at 575/541-2550.
