The City’s Redistricting Ad Hoc Committee continues to seek public input from Las Cruces residents regarding proposed conceptual maps that remain under consideration for redistricting of the six City Council districts.
The committee has narrowed its consideration to six conceptual maps. Public comments on those conceptual maps will be accepted through July 6, 2022.
The conceptual maps are available for public review online at https://www.las-cruces.org/2553/redistricting. Additionally, the maps can be viewed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday in the Conference Room of the City Clerk’s Office, just off of main lobby at City Hall, 700 N. Main St.
Public comments can be emailed to email@example.com.
The committee will next meet July 6 when it is anticipated the list of redistricted City Council maps could be narrowed again. Public comments would be a factor in deciding if conceptual maps should be reduced.
The committee hopes to present three conceptual maps to City Council at a September 12 work session. The maps will be used to help determine the boundaries of the six City Council districts for the next 10 years.
