The Las Cruces Museum of Nature & Science, 411 N. Main St., will offer in-person science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) programs for children and families this August. Admission to the museum and programs is free.
“Nature & Science Discovery PreK – Planeteers”
10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursdays in September
Registration is open for September’s Pre-K series. Nurture your little one’s love of science! Investigate the Moon through hands-on explorations, stories, and crafts every Thursday in September. Please register in-person at the Museum of Nature & Science by August 26. Recommended for ages 2 to 5 with an adult caregiver.
“Saturday Family Science – Solar Ovens”
10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, August 6
Harness the summer heat with a solar oven to make s’mores! Recommended for ages 6 and older, adult caregiver participation is required.
“STEAMpunk – BB King, Musician”
10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, August 17
BB King revolutionized Blues music using vibrato, staccato, and string bending. Learn about sound and acoustics with hands-on activities. Recommended for ages 6 and older, while supplies last.
“Live Animal Feedings”
11 a.m. to noon Saturdays, August 6 and August 13
It’s brunch time! Watch and learn how different species of animals eat, and what they eat. Animal feedings take place in the gallery at the Museum of Nature & Science. No registration needed, open to visitors of all ages.
“Animal Encounters”
11 a.m. to noon Saturday, August 27
Learn about the diverse world of reptiles and get up close to some of the museum’s residents. No registration needed, open to visitors of all ages.
