Also included will be a tentative schedule of upcoming meetings and events with military leadership and defense contractors at WSMR, Fort Bliss, and Holloman Air Force Base.
Also at Monday’s work session, the Council will receive a quarterly update from the City’s Sustainability Office. Each quarter, the Sustainability Office provides City Council with an update on the progress and opportunities related to sustainability, most often through the lens of climate change.
The Council adopted the Las Cruces Climate Action Plan on Oct. 5, 2020 through Resolution R21-060. This ongoing series continues Monday with a second report to City Council on transportation.
Specifically, the presentation will focus on electric vehicles, active transportation, and transit. A future sustainability update to the Council will pertain to greenhouse gas emission reduction strategies for one of the following sectors: energy, buildings, and waste sectors.
Additionally, an update on economic development partnerships with the City will be presented to the Council. Economic development partners are required to report annually to City Council.
Each of the City’s economic development partners will review metrics from 2021 that were mutually established with City Council and will then report on accomplishments and challenges during the past year. Partnership reports will be provided by: Downtown Las Cruces Partnership, Film Las Cruces, Las Cruces Farmers and Crafts Market, and Mesilla Valley Economic Development Alliance.
Monday’s work session will be televised live on CLCTV, Comcast Cable channel 20. The work session also will be televised in high definition on Comcast Cable channel 928.
