[ARCHIVED] "Magic: The Gathering" Game Night

Magic Gathering Game Night

The City of Las Cruces Parks & Recreation Department presents “Magic: The Gathering” game night, from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. every Thursday at the Frank O’Brien Papen Community Center, 304 W. Bell Ave.

“Magic: The Gathering” is a trading card game that combines strategy and fantasy. It can be played with two or more players and in order to win, a player must reduce his or her opponents' life points to zero.

The game can be played in various rule formats. Limited formats involve players building a deck spontaneously out of a pool of random cards with a minimum deck size of 40 cards; in constructed formats, players create decks from cards they own, usually with a minimum of 60 cards per deck.

“Magic: The Gathering” game nights are free to all and is open to all formats. Players of all ages, skill levels and experience are welcome.

New players and people interested to see what the game is about are always welcome to join or watch. Staff will teach new players the game. Youth younger than 13 years old must have a parent or guardian/adult present to play.

The first “Magic: The Gathering” game night will be Aug. 16, 2022. There is no cost to participate.

Participants must complete a release form upon their first visit and acknowledge and read program rules on their first attendance. No pre-registration required, drop-in format. Space is limited, first-come, first-served.
