Why does discolored water occur?

Because the minerals have changed from a liquid mineral to a solid mineral and settled out in the pipes. When an increase in demand occurs, the settled minerals will move, which normally occurs in the summer when people are using more water. This can also be caused by water surging through the lines when a break occurs.
