2. What is the jurisdiction of the Las Cruces Police Department (LCPD)?: Las Cruces Police patrol boundaries within the City of Las Cruces which is roughly 77 square miles. LCPD also partners with other agencies such as the Dona Ana County Sheriff's Office, New Mexico State Police and New Mexico State University Police on special operations and other agency-assisted calls.

4. How many officers does the Las Cruces Police Department employ?: The Las Cruces Police Department is allotted 202 sworn officers. LCPD also employs Animal Control and Codes Enforcement officers along with approximately 100 civilian personnel.

5. How can I become a Las Cruces Police Officer?: The Las Cruces Police Department conducts a training academy for new officers annually. Job announcements are made through the City of Las Cruces' Human Resources Department and through LCPD's Facebook page. LCPD also accepts applicants for lateral transfers from other agencies. 9. How can I find out if a sex offender lives in my neighborhood?: View the registered sex offender registry that is maintained by the Dona Ana County Sheriff's Office.

10. How can I find out if someone is incarcerated (in jail)?: Local arrestees who are detained and awaiting trial are usually held at the Dona Ana County Detention Center, 575-647-7600. A record of those who are convicted of a crime and imprisoned in New Mexico can be found through the New Mexico Corrections Department.
