1. Can I have a Personal Care Attendant (PCA) or guest ride with me?

Yes, one PCA is allowed to ride with the customer, but it is important to let Dial-a-Ride know you will be riding with a PCA so that a seat is reserved for that person.  Guests may be able to ride with the customer, but only on a space available basis and only if pre-arranged with Dial-a-Ride.  Both PCAs and companions must board and depart the vehicle with the eligible rider. 

2. Who is eligible to use Dial-a-Ride?

Senior Citizens: Persons who are 60 years of age or older. Senior Citizens must register with the Dial-a-Ride office and document proof of age.  All points of travel must be in the Las Cruces City Limits.  Please call Dial-a-Ride at (575) 541-2777 to register.

Persons qualifying under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA): Those individuals who have a qualifying disability under ADA that prevents them from using fixed-route bus services.

Applications for ADA certification are available at the MVITT, by calling Dial-a-Ride at (575) 541-2777, and by downloading the application. Eligibility determinations will be made by RoadRUNNER Transit staff.

3. Due to a disability, I cannot climb steps. Can I still use Dial-a-Ride?

Yes.  All RoadRUNNER Transit and Dial-a-Ride vehicles can accommodate people with a variety of disabilities.  Dial-a-Ride vehicles have lifts that can be used by persons using wheelchairs and other mobility devices.  Ambulatory riders that can’t use steps may also stand on the lifts and hold on to stability bars. If you require the use of a lift, please advise the scheduler when scheduling your ride.

4. As a visitor to Las Cruces am I able to use your service?

We welcome visitors!  Eligible visitors are more than welcome to use our service for 21 days out of the year.  Please contact the Dial-a-Ride administration office at (575) 541-2777 to let us know when you will be in Las Cruces and we can provide you more information. If you have been qualified to use a service similar to Dial-a-Ride in a different transit system, Dial-a-Ride will also accept that proof of qualification.

5. How far in advance must I schedule a ride?

Rides must be scheduled no later than the day before the desired ride.  Rides can be scheduled up to two weeks in advance.  Please be prepared to negotiate a trip time with the Dial-a-Ride scheduler as we might not be able to pick you up at the exact time you request.  Contact Dial-a-Ride for rules about scheduling rules as they do differ with qualified ADA riders and with senior citizen riders.

6. Can I request to be the only passenger on a Dial-a-Ride trip or request a direct trip?

No.  Dial-a-Ride, like regular RoadRUNNER Transit service, is a shared ride service.  Please be prepared to expect the driver to pick up and drop off other passengers during your trip.

7. What if I want to take RoadRUNNER regular fixed route bus system?

The RoadRUNNER fixed route bus system runs bus routes throughout major areas in Las Cruces. Visit our website at: lascruces.gov/transit or call a customer representative at (575) 541-2500 to plan your trip.

The bus service operates Monday through Friday 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. and Saturday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
